Gov vetoes ordinances creating history officer, fixed SP staff posts

MALAYBALAY CITY – (Bukidnon News Dispatch/06 October) Gov. Alex P.
Calingasan vetoed two ordinances passed by the Sangguniang
Panlalawigan in May and August 2011, according to a copy of his letter
to the provincial board.

The provincial board passed in May 18, 2011 Ordinance No. 2011-023R or
the “Ordinance permanently providing staff personnel in the offices of
the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, creating co-terminus
positions therein, and for other purposes.” Continue reading

Killer buses in Bukidnon highways: In 2011 – 9 deaths in 32 RTMI bus accidents

MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News Dispatch/06 October) –  Jerry Villamor, who works for the municipal government of Manolo Fortich was operating the town’s crane on September 6 in Mangima, Tankulan village. They were responding to a vehicular accident that happened earlier.

A Starex van fell off the road and they were supposed to save the victims inside the vehicle.

Instead, Villamor and colleagues Nickarter Onahon Jr and Alfredo Amolat, figured in another accident.

A bus of the Rural Transit of Mindanao, Inc. (RTMI) rammed through the rescue vehicle, apparently ignoring a warning device ahead.

Villamor died on the spot. Onahon and Amolat were rushed to the hospital for serious injuries.

The three became the latest addition to the statistics of vehicular accidents involving RTMI busses in Bukidnon’s highways. Continue reading

Vice Gov. Zubiri to take a leave for US trip

MALAYBALAY CITY – (Bukidnon News Dispatch/05 October) Vice Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr. announced he will be leaving for the United States this month to accompany his wife Ma. Victoria F. Zubiri or “Vicky” for medical procedures there.

Zubiri told Bukidnon News he will fly to an undisclosed US city on October 21. The vice governor said he has to be the one to be with his ailing wife in the trip.

He said he will file a leave of absence from October 21 until his expected return on November 14. Continue reading

House approves Bukidnon’s 4th legislative district – records

MALAYBALAY CITY – (Bukidnon News Dispatch/04 October) The House of Representatives approved Monday House Bill No. 5236 or the “Act
Reapportioning the Province of Bukidnon into four legislative
districts,” House records obtained by Bukidnon News showed.

The House approved the bill on third reading on October 3, 2011 with
217-0-0 votes, barely a month after it was filed on Sept. 5, 2011. It
was the house committee on local government, which recommended the
approval of the bill in its Committee Report No. 01402 submitted on
Sept. 5.
The house bill substituted House Bill 4382, which was filed in March
this year by Bukidnon 3rd district Rep. Jose Ma. Zubiri III,
co-authored by 2nd district Rep. Florencio T. Flores Jr. and 1st
District Rep. Jesus Emmanuel Paras. Continue reading

Capitol’s outstanding personnel, units honored

MALAYBALAY CITY-  (Bukidnon News Dispatch/04 October) – Four officers of the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, outstanding offices and units, and about 140 loyal personnel were honored during the culminating and awarding ceremony of the Civil Service Commission anniversary celebration.

Marie Carmen C. Unabia, department head of the Provincial Economic
Enterprise Development and Management Office (PEEDMO) led the winners of the outstanding officials/personnel. The other recipients were Dr. Melodee A. Aguirre (Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center), Aida B.
Loveres (PEEDMO), and Dominador D. Libayao (Provincial Social Welfare

Capitol proposes P1.33B 2012 budget, SP scheds marathon hearings

MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News Dispatch/04 October)–  Gov. Alex
Calingasan has proposed a P1.330 billion budget for 2012, about P50
million short compared to the provincial government’s 2011 budget of
P1.379 billion.

The Provincial Government of Bukidnon, which received an internal
revenue allotment of P1.311 billion in 2011, will receive only P1.249
billion this year or P62.2 million less, due to the five-percent
shortfall in the national revenue in 2009, which is the basis for the
computation of the internal revenue allotment (IRA) for 2012. Continue reading
