BSU wins regional ROTC tactical showdown

MALAYBALAY CITY – (Bukidnon News/ 02 March 2012) – The Bukidnon State University Reserve Officers Training Corps (BSU ROTC) unit won in the Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI), which covers Region 10.

The BSU ROTC unit prevailed over 10 other ROTC units in Northern Mindanao with an average rating of 95.79 percent.The unit showed their skills during the tactical inspection held last month in consonance with the directive Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) headquarters for school year 2011 to 2012.

The 10th Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command facilitated the inspection with Col. Ramon B. Florece, AFP (GSC) PA, head of the nine-member RAATI team.

The BSU ROTC unit, composed of 450 cadets, were presented in two battalions, which is composed of four companies and eight platoons.

The inspectors checked the unit’s performance to determine the state of training and efficiency of the ROTC Unit. About 80 cadets from the Mindanao Arts Technological Institute (MATI), joined the BSU unit as an affiliate.

Florece announced the unit’s victory on a personal visit to BSU on February 25.

National Service Training Program (NSTP) coordinator Engr. Jerome N. Ramirez said the victory brought honor and prestige to the university.

He cited that having skilled army training personnel in the field, active involvement of the ROTC Coordinator, Mr. Albert A. Celebran, receptive students and high quality of discipline were BSU’s advantage.

BSU won over Central Mindanao University in Maramag, Bukidnon; Iligan Medical Center College (with affiliated schools Saint Peter College and Saint Michael College) ; Mindanao State University in Marawi, Maigo, Lanao del Norte and Tibanga, Iligan City; Camiguin Polytechnic State College in Mambajao Camiguin; Mindanao State University of Science and Technology in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Liceo de Cagayan University, Cagayan de Oro College and Tagoloan Community College in Misamis Oriental.(Cheny E.
