MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News/16 January) Records showed that all
three Bukidnon members of the House of Representatives supported the
impeachment of Supreme Court chief justice Renator Corona.
Two members, Rep. Jesus Emmanuel Paras (1s district) and Rep. Jose Ma.
Zubiri III (3rd district), were among the 188 who signed the
impeachment complaint against the chief justice containing eight
articles of impeachment (see related story).
Rep. Florencio T. Flores Jr admitted to Bukidnon News he was not able
to sign the impeachment but was among the 13 who signified support for
the impeachment. Flores and 12 other congressmen filed a three-page
motion earlier this month supporting the impeachment complaint
submitted to the Senate.
There are now a total of 201 members supporting the impeachment.
The three congressmen from Bukidnon were also among the 212 members of
the House who voted last year for the impeachment of Ombudsman
Merceditas Gutierrez, leading to her trial by the Senate for betrayal
of public trust.
But Gutierrez resigned even before the Senate could set up the trial.
