City Hall cuts work time on Valentine’s Day

MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News/14 February) Employees of the
Malaybalay City Hall observed a shorter work time today, February 14,
in time for Valentine’s Day.

Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri announced during the city’s convocation
program Monday he will allow the employees to go home early so they
could have longer time to spend with their family.

A staff at the City Mayor’s Office told Bukidnon News via telephone
some employees started going home by 3p.m. Bukidnon News learned that
Zubiri did not issue a written order aside from his verbal

Zubiri defended that the move for under time is not ‘lakwatsa’ (waste
of time) but a treat given to the employees during Valentine’s Day.

The mayor also announced that the mandatory drug testing for the
city’s job order employees have been completed. He did not cite any
result of the drug tests yet.

Zubiri noted, however, that not all department heads took the test. He
cited five so far, including City Administrator-designate Herculano
Ronolo, City Veterinarian Dr. Ike Micayabas, City Social Welfare and
Development Office chief Virginia Flores, City Economic Enterprise
Development and Management Office (CEEDMO) chief Danilo Belderol, and
City Budget Officer Arlene Ho, who took the test.

He encouraged city hall’s regular employees to take the drug test
voluntarily “so the doubts will be cleared.”
