City govt’ employees face charges for shabu use – PDEA

MALAYBALAY CITY (Bukidnon News/19 January) Eight city government
employees were reported to have used shabu and are now facing
administrative charges, PDEA Bukidnon agents told Bukidnon News
Thursday.

Another source, who is from the city government, said the case only
involved six job order employees who allegedly belonged to the staff
of Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri. As of Thursday morning, Mayor Zubiri did
not respond to requests by Bukidnon News for interview on the issue.

The employees were reportedly caught using shabu based on evidence,
including a video, obtained by PDEA Bukidnon.

Agents of PDEA Bukidnon, who earlier asked not to be named, said via
telephone they have placed the suspects under surveillance “for a long
time”.

But PDEA Bukidnon refused to name the suspects referring Bukidnon News
to the city government.

The PDEA officer in charge for Bukidnon clarified there was no
buy-bust operation last Monday, January 16, as rumors said. PDEA
Bukidnon has endorsed the case to Mayor Zubiri in a conference Monday,
the PDEA official added.

The PDEA did not take custody of the suspects, the PDEA official said.

But he said they have sufficient evidence to prove that the suspects
have been using shabu.

He clarified the employees were not involved in selling shabu. PDEA
filed administrative charges against the suspects before the City
Government of Malaybalay, Bukidnon News sources said.

PDEA Bukidnon agents also informed Bukidnon Gov. Alex Calingasan and
Vice Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr. about the case.

“We leave it to the local government units to address this,” the PDEA
official added.
PDEA Bukidnon has classified the suspects as “very prominent” and has
refused to identify them.

They have also considered the details of their surveillance operation
as “highly confidential.”  Another agent said via telephone their
operations were very discrete to protect their agents and their
witnesses.

A Bukidnon News source, who is a city government insider, said job
order employees will face automatic termination, if decided by the
mayor.

“Only regular and casual employees will go through a probe by the
grievance committee,” the source added.

The source added that the city government already sacked the
employees. (Bukidnon News)
