Malaybalay to build child care lab center

MALAYBALAY CITY  (Bukidnon News/19 October) With the help of the
National Early Childhood Care and Development, the city government of
Malaybalay will be building an early childhood care laboratory center
within the year, the city government announced in its website.

The city government received P2.2 million from NECCD to create the
facility designed to enhance early childhood education and “to
capacitate the day care workers in serving day care centers in the
barangays.”

The NECCD center will be located inside the campus of the Bangcud
Central School with P250,000 counterpart from the city government for
the perimeter fence.

NECCD will also provide the fixtures, equipments, educational
materials and teachers.
Delia Ganaden, NECCD assistant director for administration and
finance, handed the NECCD fund support to the city government in
August. The city government announced that bidding for the
construction of the center will soon start.

According to the post at the website, the center “will be a model
institution and laboratory that will serve as an observation center
for other entities involved in early childhood development”.

This center, it added, will focus on toddlers and pre-school kids with
ages 3-4 years old.

According to the city’s proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Bangcud,
where the lab center will be built, will be converted into an
institutional zone of the Malaybalay due to its large area and
facilities for education and research. (Walter I. Balane/Bukidnon
