BUKIDNON NEWS launching convenes an array of guests, takers

MALAYBALAY CITY (September 19) – With almost all sectors of community represented and present: government, academe, church, media, private sector etc.; the Bukidnon News and Information Service Cooperative or Bukidnon News for short, was finally launched, September 19 at the Bukidnon State University Ethno-cultural Museum Malaybalay City.

The inspiration of the creation of the group has been identified to address three basic scopes:

1. So that journalists and information practitioners must own the means in which they depend on. This will help them chart the kind of work they want to pursue, free of dictation or influence from sectors who may not necessarily share the common aspirations of the members.

2. A group that is dedicated to serve the news and information needs of a province must start from the province. This will help promote consciousness on the Bukidnon situations/conditions/realities. Community journalism is doable and is sustainable.

3. Bukidnons must report about Bukidnon, share its gains and pains, not only for people in the province through the reports in radio, community paper and other means but also to those outside the province through online means.

All the efforts are actually geared to help empower the people in Bukidnon communities here and abroad, contribute in the education and enlightenment of people, and the promotion of peace, harmony, and development through the democratic processes.

About  50 guests and participants, a really interesting mix of assemblage, were there to witness the simple event and Sol Dinlayan, In-charge of the  BSU Ethno-cultural Museum was there to welcome them.

Walter I. Balane, Editor-in-chief of Bukidnon News Dispatch, one of the products marketed currently by Bukidnon News, also acknowledged the guests and went on to proceed to his presentation on Bukidnon News and Information Services: History and Rationale, what the group stands for, (Vision, Mission and Goals), Organizational Profile as well as products and services.

The presence of Bukidnon News in the different leading social networking sites like: Facebook and Twitter, as well as having technological contact points; have made itmore easier for more users and supporters  of the group to gain more access to its products and services.

Waway Saway, the acclaimed Bukidnon artist was also on hand to entertain and render the guests a very special intermission number.

While it would have also been an occasion for a symbolic signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Bukidnon News and its major subscribers – And Bandilyo  and Love Radio 106.3, the signing was not to take place since the persons involved were called away yet on other pressing matters.
