Bukidnon football teams win in Gingoog fest

MALAYBALAY CITY – The Malaybalay City Football Club’s Under 17 Boys Football team won the championship in the Copa de Sr. Pedro Grand Invitational Football Festival on April 16 to 17, 2011 at the Gingoog City Football Field.

The team prevailed over at least 10 teams from Northern Mindanao in the football fest.The U17 Girls and the U21 Girls teams won also as 1st runner up for their respective categories. The football teams also participated in the Boys 21, Boys 12, and Men’s Open categories.

At least 50 football clubs from Northern Mindanao joined the first Copa de Sr. Pedro Grand Invitational Football Festival held recently at the Gingoog City. Football clubs from Bukidnon, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City, Magsaysay, Medina, Claveria, Opol, and Ozamiz sent delegations.

Other Bukidnon football clubs in the fest were from Del Monte Football Club, Central Mindanao University Football Club, Saint Jude Football Club of Manolo Fortich, and others.

In March, the Central Mindanao University (CMU) football club also registered a twin kill in the 74th Araw ng Dabaw Football Festival.

CMU won two titles, topping the men’s open second division and the 14-under to emerge the best team in the one-day tournament. (Walter I. Balane with a report from Gabby James Namoc of the MCFC)
